Our site is a new and innovative way for South Africans to market their skills and get the tradesman they deserve as we head into a the new decade, and is also a free service to the public. Following the success of our hosting of the World Cup we’re enjoying more standard internet costs allowing greater access and convenience. Gone are the days of scanning page after page in the phone book as we usher in a more efficient system for locating the right handyman for your specific needs. Our clients are also sent three separate quotes to ensure we never lose that important competitive edge.

With our unique rating system you can check out what other people have to say about a potential tradesman’s workmanship before hiring them. This is an important step as it empowers our clients to reward an artisan with public praise or constructive criticism, and as it is an open system, all new clients will be able to reference an artisans rating before hiring him. SA is the home of the handyman, where everyone proclaims to do everything. This is not really the way things should work as legitimate tradesmen serve four years apprenticeship to become experts at their chosen profession. It makes sense to get a professional and registered tradesman to do the work that he has trained for rather than generalist.

We often hear stories about handymen doing work for people and how some of the work is good while other work is shabby. At times the customer simply wants the job done without the hassle of having two or three people to deal with, and sometimes it is the tradesman pushing for that extra work which, if you check, he is not actually qualified to do.>

We had a case on our website where an artisan who registered as a tiler went to the home of a customer who had placed three separate jobs, one tiling, one plumbing and the other general building. When the tiler arrived he convinced the customer he was qualified to do the plumbing as well as the tiling and she gave him the job as he was also the lowest quote. The tiling was perfect but sadly the plumbing turned out as a mess, which lead to expensive complications.

This is a prime example of what our site is all about and that is getting the right tradesman to do the job they are qualified to do, at a reasonable price. Here at Rated Tradesmen the customer gets three quotes and in addition they can examine the tradesman’s references before employing them. The tradesmen are aware that they are quoting against two other qualified artisans, so they keep their prices completive.
